The Need: Why Empowerment Matters
In many parts of West Bengal, women face limited opportunities and social barriers. Nabatara Foundation recognized these challenges and set out to create accessible training programs in digital literacy, handicrafts, and entrepreneurship. The goal: help women become financially independent and respected in their communities.
Rina’s Story: From Learner to Leader
Meet Rina Das, a mother of two from Howrah. She joined a Nabatara skill center with little hope and no digital experience. Through patient mentorship and hands-on learning, Rina became proficient in digital tools and financial management. Today, she runs a successful online textile business and mentors other women—proving that empowerment multiplies.
Our Approach: Skill-Building and Micro-Enterprise
Nabatara’s centers offer more than just training. Women receive access to micro-loans, business workshops, and networking events. The foundation’s “Lakhpati Didi” program connects artisans to e-commerce platforms, opening new markets and boosting incomes. Over 1,200 women now earn ₹8,500+ monthly.
Community Impact: Changing Local Economies
The ripple effect is real. As women like Rina grow their businesses, they create jobs and inspire others. Local economies benefit, and families see improved health and education outcomes. Nabatara’s initiatives have sparked hundreds of women-led micro-enterprises across West Bengal.
Overcoming Challenges: Support at Every Step
Empowerment isn’t easy. Many women face resistance at home or in their communities. Nabatara provides ongoing support, legal advocacy, and leadership training to help women navigate obstacles and achieve lasting change.
The Road Ahead: Scaling Impact
With 9,000+ women empowered and counting, Nabatara Foundation is scaling its programs to reach even more communities. The vision is clear: a West Bengal where every woman has the tools and confidence to shape her own future.
